If you want a workshop in your location, we can come with the equipment to give a course and perform a distillation on site.
We also regularly offer hands-on workshops on distilling essential oils and alcohols. Dates are listed below when a workshop is scheduled.
If you would like a private workshop on essential oil distillation, please do not hesitate to contact us; we can travel with all the necessary equipment for a presentation and distillation on site.

All our training programs are offered online, with some options available in person depending on the period. A certificate of participation is issued upon completion of each training program.
ORGANIC CHEMISTRY, PLANTS AND ESSENTIAL OILS CHEMISTRY
Course duration : (3 x 2h30 online)
Course content : This course, relatively theoretical, is intended to provide you with a valuable and even indispensable knowledge base if you work with plants in phytotherapy, aromatherapy or natural products. After an introduction to the chemistry of living organisms, we will discuss the main families of molecules in plants and what we can extract or distill
After an introduction to the chemistry of living things, i.e. the basics of organic chemistry, we will discuss the major families of secondary metabolites contained in plants as well as some of their biological activities and we will study in more depth the chemistry of essential oils, the molecules they contain, their origins, why the plant synthesizes them, the molecules to be wary of, etc.
DISTILLATION AND EXTRACTION OF AROMATIC AND MEDICINALE PLANTS
Course duration : (3 x 2h30 online)
Course content : During this day combining practice and theory, we will distill a seasonal aromatic plant and we will make different plant extracts in order to study the impact of the extraction method (the choice of solvent) on the product obtained. The main methods of extraction and distillation will be explained and discussed.
We will then discuss the theory of distillation, the physical principles at work during distillation, the main distillation methods and the influence of certain parameters such as distillation time, temperature and pressure on the yield and composition of essential oils and hydrosols.
ANALYSIS AND QUALITY OF ESSENTIAL OILS AND HYDROLATS
Course duration : (3 x 2h30 online)
Course content:
This day, which also combines practice and theory, aims to explain how essential oils and other natural products are analyzed in laboratory. Other tests that can be done by the participants themselves are also presented and we discuss the relatively complex notion of quality.
We will study how gas chromatography (GC-MS & GC-FID) works, how essential oils are analyzed and how to interpret the results of this analysis to validate the source, origin and purity of an essential oil.
Other tests, some of which can be done at home, will also be presented, and we will discuss the relatively complex concept of essential oil quality.
