The Explorer is certainly the most versatile small still on the market. It was initially developed for self-production of essential oils, hydrosols, and plant extracts, as well as for production testing, training, and research.

It is the first unit in the range to feature an inline essencier allowing distillation with continuous cohobation. It can therefore be used for steam distillation or hydrodistillation of “heavy” or “light” essential oils, with or without cohobation.

Since its development nearly 10 years ago, numerous options have been developed to make it as versatile as possible. Thus, depending on needs, it is now possible to configure an Explorer to: distill with agitation, test turbodistillation, distill under vacuum, rectify solvents, produce neutral alcohol, produce (large-capacity soxhlet) or concentrate (vacuum evaporator) plant extracts… The unit’s capacity can also be doubled with an additional chamber (steam distillation only). It can be used with a gas burner or with an electric heating element.
